Project Role: Director of Photography
The River Speaks of Thirst is a feature-length film based on the eponymous spoken-word album by North Carolina Poet Laureate Jaki Shelton Green. Commissioned by The Justice Theater Project and directed by Kristi Vincent Johnson, the film comprises nine vignettes each based on a single poem from the album, offering a variety of interpretations through dance, music, and performance art. The relationship between these narratives mirrors the Black American experience, interweaving nature, history, violence, and victory like a river through a landscape.
